About Camp Summit

Jeff from Camp Summit has generously offered the use of his facility to put on this event on extremely short notice, and we would like to show our thanks by respecting the following rules and understanding the facility. Camp summit is a kids camp, and thus we need to make sure we leave the grounds cleaner than it was when we arrived. It is unusual for them to have an event with alcohol, and the only way we're able to do this is to make sure there is no trace left (no bottles).

There are cabins that can accommodate 144 people, and there is plenty of space for camping. The cabins are dormitory style and rustic, so if you need something more you could book a hotel, e.g. Garibaldi Springs Hotel. Please RSVP for the event here and indicate if you plan on spending the night at camp summit, and what you can bring to the potluck.

  • Driving directions here [PDF]
  • There are no showers
  • This is a no-smoking facility - but if you must smoke, please do so discretely and ensure the butts are disposed of safely, NOT left the ground.
  • No food in cabins
  • No nut policy (to avoid allergy problems)
  • No pets please
  • No glass, so please bring beer in cans only and boxes of wine
  • Parking is very limited - Please carpool from Vancouver or plan to meet somewhere close to carpool (ie. Brackendale Elementary School)

What to Bring:

  • Warm Clothes!! It's very cold in the evenings so you should have enough clothing to keep you warm (toque, fleece/down jacket, etc...)
  • A photo of you to contribute to the guest book
  • Lawn chairs (seating capacity is limited to ~140 people, so we encourage you to bring a chair if you have one
  • Beverage receptacle (we'll be serving draft beer & wine and would like to avoid the use of plastic cups)
  • If it's raining it could be muddy or wet so appropriate footwear/rain-gear is recommended
  • Sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries
  • Headlamp
  • Garbage bags to help clean up the following morning
  • Anything out of the ordinary that you may require
  • Whatever you need for your children (special food, toys, etc.). Some activities for kids will be arranged, and we encourage volunteers to help out with this.
  • A positive attitude - this is a celebration of Hannes' life and achievements
